Telling the New Story

Kathy Cassidy represents the 3rd in a series of interviews with teachers telling the new story of teaching and learning in K-12 classrooms featured on http://ideasandthoughts.org

This interview with a grade one teacher illustrates how even the youngest student to take advantage of social software such as blogs, wikis and podcast to share learning and exchange ideas with the world. Kathy Cassidy of Moose Jaw, SK provides insights into her classroom. Students and parents also share their experiences.

Hi Chris. I really appreciate the material you are posting. This video in particular is helpful in promoting the use of Web 2.0 applications in Canadian classrooms with teachers who don't see themselves as particularly competent with technology.

I work as an assistive technology consultant with special needs students on Vancouver Island. So many of the Web 2.0 apps facilitate UDL (universal design for learning). It turns out that what works well for kids with special needs is often incredibly helpful for many many others!

If you haven't already visited, you might be interested in my blog. The focus is on free educational resources. Unfortunately, I haven't had much time for this hobby lately. (paulhami.edublogs.org)

Thanks again. --Paul
